Do you have to sign-up?
NOPE! You just show up in costume and head toward Beery Field. Our volunteers will get you all lined up on South Washington and then tell you where and when to go. This is strictly a walking parade. No motorized vehicles are allowed, but that doesn't mean it can't roll on wheels, they just can't be motorized. We've seen some very creative things done with PVC pipe, cardboard, bikes, and hospital gurneys. We encourage you to think outside the box. The crowd rewards creativity and homemade costumes with a roar of applause. Group costumes and coordinated routines are also a crowd favorite. We'll give you the runway... you work it!
Will the parade be canceled for bad weather?
NOPE! The parade must go on regardless of what the weather brings! We parade rain, sleet, snow or moon-shine so dress accordingly and get ready to have some fun! If the weather is wet or too windy, the Pumpkin King may have to sit it out so he doesn't get ruined.
Is it okay to pass things our or throw candy?
Nope! We don't allow candy or other items to be handed out or thrown to the crowd, because what we have discovered is... there are no kids to pick it up. Adults just watch it fall to the ground, which leaves our beloved DPW to clean it up and they don't like that very much. They play an important role in the events, so we try to keep them happy. Thanks for your understanding.
