![]() I often laugh when I hear people refer to the Halloween parade as "the adult parade" because I can hear my mother correcting me in my head.... "Erin it is not an adult parade it is a parade for adults, there is a completely different connotation" and she was a stickler on that point. Ha! Ha! Mom wanted to create an environment that would encourage adults to let their creativity run wild... and boy did she ever! With so many artists in the area, her little parade became the perfect incubator for an explosion of Halloween fun! Saugatuck and Douglas are well known for our arts and artists. We have everything from puppeteers to actors, singers, dancers, painters, photographers and any other kind of artist you can imagine in Saugatuck-Douglas! Creativity is a local commodity that pulls tourists from all around the world and they come in droves to witness this event, much to our delight!
People often ask me if kids are allowed and I say... this is a parade for adults (that for you mom!) but yes, so long as you are prepared to have a very adult conversation with them about some of the costumes they may see and the questions they may ask, I have no problem with having them in attendance.

Erin K. WilkinsonMy mother Ginger Wilkinson founded the Douglas Halloween Parade for Adults. I took over managing it after she passed away in 2012. Each year I dedicate the parade to her loving memory. She loved being whimsical and giving back to the community!
