The Douglas Halloween Parade
One Night. One Tiny Town. One Very Big Parade.
For one night each year, downtown Douglas transforms into the stage for one of the most distinctive Halloween events in the midwest.
The Douglas Halloween Parade for Adults is a nighttime spectacle of costumes, puppetry, music, performance, and imagination. It is theatrical, highly visual, wonderfully weird, and always changing. And while the parade is designed with adults in mind, it is a safe, welcoming celebration of creativity and good clean fun.

From Fewer Than 100 to 15,000–20,000
The Douglas Halloween Parade began in 1998 with fewer than 100 participants.
Nearly three decades later, it has become a major shoulder-season attraction for the Saugatuck-Douglas area, bringing thousands of visitors to the area.
The parade remains a community-driven event, but it is no small production. Professional lighting and sound, elaborate costumes, giant puppets, live music, performances, volunteers, sponsors, and hundreds of participants come together to create a spectacle that is far bigger than its four-block route suggests.
What Makes It Different?
There are plenty of Halloween events. The Douglas Halloween Parade is something else entirely.
This is a nighttime parade built for spectacle. The darkness, theatrical lighting, music, costumes, and performances create an atmosphere you simply can't get from a daytime parade.
You'll see familiar faces and completely unexpected creations. Some entries are elaborate productions. Others are delightfully simple. Some make you laugh. Some make you wonder exactly what you just saw.
That's part of the fun.
And because the parade is for adults, participants have a little more freedom to be clever, irreverent, and occasionally offbeat—while keeping the event welcoming, safe, and fun for everyone.
The Parade
The Pumpkin King leads the procession, followed by VIP paraders and top sponsors, the main parade lineup, and finally the Great Lakes Brass Band bringing up the caboose.
The parade travels four blocks through downtown Douglas before ending at Beery Field.
