Where Should I Watch?

Pick Your Spot Along the Route on Center Street

The parade spans four blocks through downtown Douglas, beginning between Ox-Bow House and the Saugatuck-Douglas History Center (Old School House) and ending at Beery Field.

There isn't one “best” place to watch. Each section of the route offers a different experience.

Block 1 - Between Mixer and Union Streets
Near the Start

Get close to the beginning of the route to get an early glimpse at lineup. Visit the Old School House party for a costume competition and an opportunity to see the Pumpkin King and take photos before the parade. Across the street, Ox-Bow House has a Great Lakes Brass Band and a garden bar, next to our VIP line-up area.

Block 2 - Between Union and Spring Streets

If you need a hot cup of coffee, Respite Cappuccino Court is directly across the street from our wheelchair-accessible area.

Block 3 - Between Spring and Main Streets
Near Restaurants & Bars

This block features a party at Happystance and Wild Dog Bar and Grille. Just around the corner you’ll find Back Alley Pizza Joint and on the other side of Main street are the food trucks.

Block 4 - Between Main and Washington Streets
Near Beery Field & Food Trucks

The final block offers easy access to Borrowed Time and the food trucks and is convenient if you're planning to catch the free Interurban shuttle after the parade. This final block offers a sweeping view of the parade and the crowds lining the route.

Note: Part of the end of the route is reserved for our VIP paraders.

Want to Get There Early?

Come for More Than the Parade

If you're planning to watch from downtown, we recommend arriving by 6:00–7:00 PM.

Close parking becomes difficult as the evening goes on, and restaurants and bars fill up early.

Arriving early gives you time to:

• Find parking
• Grab dinner or drinks
• Explore downtown Douglas and Saugatuck
• Find your viewing spot
• Enjoy the Halloween atmosphere before the parade begins

Music and activity build throughout the evening, with the parade itself beginning at 10 PM.

With Great Lakes Brass Band at the end of the parade!
